When manufacturing stainless steel glass fittings, SUS304 or SUS316 stainless steel is generally selected. These two materials are the most popular material on the market today. So, what is the difference between 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel? Next, we will give you a simple sharing.
|
(1) Different Chemical Composition: 304 stainless steel does not contain molybdenum, while 316 stainless steel has molybdenum.
(2) Different Corrosion Resistance: 304 stainless steel contains only 9% of nickel, while 316 stainless steel contains 12% of nickel. Thus, the corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel is worse.
(3) Different Properties: 304 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, etc. However, the 316 stainless steel has better chloride corrosion resistance and heat resistance, due to the addition of molybdenum.
(4) Different Applications: 304 stainless steel is widely used in making pots and pans, etc., while 316 stainless steel is widely used in the food industry, medical industry, watch industry, etc.
(5) Different Prices: Since 316 stainless steel is food grade material and has better corrosion resistance, thus the price of 316 stainless steel will be more expensive than 304 stainless steel.
