Q2:At what stage in my building process should i have balustrade installed?

A2: The answer is simply: as late as possible. Select your chosen design and suitably qualified

supplier when your concrete work is done and measurable. Leave the installation process for

as late as possible in the program for the following reasons:

1.The balustrades should be installed by using the core drilling method if top fixed, for the uprights,

2.which after tiling will create a neat continuous tiling line.

3.Tile adhesives and acid based tile cleaning agents will affect the finish of the stainless steel and

4.corrosion marks could become evident. If you are installing wooden floors or carpets, it is

5.advisable to install the balustrades first as core drilling is a wet process which could cause

6.water damage.

Q3:How do i know what grade of stainless steel should be chosen for my balustrade

      application?

A3: Our sales people are qualified to recommend the correct grade of stainless steel for your railings.

There are two commonly used grades of Austenitic Stainless Steels that are used for balustrades,

handrails and staircases. Grade 304 is the basic chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel and has

been found suitable for the widest range of applications. This type has excellent resistance to corrosion

from exposure to weather. It is the grade which is normally used for interior and exterior applications.

Grade 316 offers more corrosion resistance through the addition of molybdenum. This type is desirable

where severe corrosion conditions exist, such as coastal environments.

Q4:Do i need to maintain my stainless steel balustrades?
A4:Like any investment, routine, simple cleaning will ensure the longevity of the product. Proprietary

cleaners are available on the market today but routine washing down with a mild detergent and clean

water should suffice. As a “rule of thumb”, clean your stainless steel as routinely as you would your

windows. For more stubborn marks or stains such as paint, grease etc, please contact your supplier

for advice on the best solution.
